Little Pet Care celebrates 10th Anniversary by helping to fight women’s cancer

Located at 598093 2nd Line, owner of Little’s Pet Care, Carola Little, marked a 10 year in business milestone on June 14th and celebrated by hosting a barbecue in support of one of her employee’s, professional Dog Walker, Crystal Dezenosky-Gould who is raising money to attend The Weekend to End Women’s Cancer Walk.

In addition to the collaborative effort of combining a tenth anniversary and raise money for Cancer, the women came up with a plan to donate hair to Locks of Love, where wigs and hair pieces can be made for both Cancer survivors and those enduring chemotherapy.

Dezenosky–Gould has raised over $1600 towards her entrance fee of $2000 with donations from family and friends, a yard sale and other small endeavors but still needs help.

“I decided to shave my head and donate my hair to Locks of Love and try and raise a little more money. Everyone has been so supportive so far,” commented Dezenosky-Gould who knows the pain of watching loved and close friends lose their battle to cancer.

“The weekend to end Women’s Cancer Walk is a two day, 60km event and this is my 4th time participating, but first time cutting my hair. People can donate online at www.endcancer.ca/go/crystaldez. I just think that if people have to lose their hair unwillingly while trying to fight cancer, I can cut my hair willingly in support. My hair will grow back, but for others, they might not get the chance,” explained Dezenosky–Gould.

Dezenosky–Gould is step mother to Sonja Copeland’s son and the two women experienced a bond beyond shared motherhood as Copeland discusses the recent loss of her friend.

“To watch a 40 year old woman leave two elementary kids behind and to know Crystal is shaving her head willingly in support is really something. It’s really something special!”, overwhelmed with emotion on behalf of her friend’s lost battle to cancer, Copeland recognises the important significance as she feels her friend alive in the fight against Cancer through Crystal and others who attended the barbecue fund raiser felt the same way.

With dogs running around the Little’s Pet Care yard, even though slightly somber, the mood was still happy marking the Little’s tenth year in business and with people like the Little’s giving back on their special day, it’s easy to see why the celebration was a huge success for neighbors, friends, and clients alike.

Veterinary Technician, Carola Little runs a cageless boarding facility that pets and owners just love. Although located in a slightly remote area, the location is precisely the attraction for pet owners. The peaceful, beautiful landscape is almost surreal with its rolling hills, green tapestry of harmony and combine that with lodgings, designer in quality, hygienic and caring, clients are as smitten as their pets. Day care or week-long care, Little’s Pet Care is definitely a vacation for pets of the highest standards and once clients try Little’s, they are devoted.

“When I went into business, I didn’t know if it would be a success, but with support of this community we look forward to many more years of caring for pets,” Little commented. It’s that caring that resonates and extends throughout the Little’s business, to their employees and their friends and family so it should be no surprise that Little also donated her hair to Locks of Love and Shelburne’s own Cathy Flear, hairdresser from Creative Hair, donated her services to cut hair, collect it and donate it to Locks of Love as her contribution in support of Dezenosky- Gould’s goal to stomp out women’s cancer.
