During the summer months, we see many more motorcycles on the road. Often, motorcyclists are injured in collisions that could be prevented if motorists followed a few simple safety rules. Here’s a few tips on how to share the road, and avoid a tragedy.
Motorists:
• Check your mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes
• Use your signals
• When turning left, make sure you have sufficient room to avoid a collision
• Don’t tailgate
Motorcyclists can contribute to road safety as well:
• Be visible, use proper lane positioning
• Drive defensively, never assume you’ve been seen
• Stay within the speed limit
• Wear proper protective clothing
• Never pass between lanes, or off the roadway
Our highways are for all users. Please follow these safety tips, and Share The Road!
