Is Shelburne your “One Horse Town”?

July 31, 2015   ·   0 Comments

Shelburne should be proud to call itself a one horse town – and we hope the good people at Molson Coors will agree.
Entered into the ‘Coors Banquet One Horse Town contest’ earlier this year, Shelburne has made the Top 2 for the privilege of hosting a free music concert featuring Tim Hicks & The Road Hammers.
Also in the Top 2 is Lacombe, Alberta.
“We asked towns across the country to submit photos of their hometown pride on our website for a chance to win a free live concert,” said Greg Vallentin, manager, Public Relations, Molson Coors Canada. “After receiving submissions from dozens of towns, two finalists were chosen, including Shelburne. Our top choices were based on the number of submissions and feasibility of hosting a show of this size.”
Shelburnites will have from August 3rd to August 17th to make their voices heard – voting online as much as possible (one vote per email address per day), to win the ultimate musical prize, and the right to call Shelburne, Canada’s One Horse Town.
Register your votes at coorsbanquet.ca/en/oht (site opens Aug. 3rd) – the winning town is being chosen based on the volume of votes.
The winning town will be announced shortly after voting closes on the 17th.
The competition, Lacombe, is located 24.6 kilometres north of Red Deer, and 125 kilometres south of Edmonton. They have a population of 11,707 residents.
“We need every vote from every source possible to beat out Lacombe, Alberta,” said Shawnette Crouse, events coordinator, Town of Shelburne. “Share this story with every friend, relative and employee and their friend’s friend possible. We want to bring country music home to Shelburne and it will take everyone’s help, everybody’s Facebook friends and then some! Go get them Shelburne, I know we can do this!”
