It’s time to clean up your ride and polish that chrome for the 3rd Annual Motorcycle Show & Shine and Ride at this year’s Shelburne Street Festival, being held June 20 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Street Festival’s Motorcycle Show & Shine is hosted by Tattoo Addiction to raise funds for NICU at Sick Kids in memory of Cole, while the Rolling Thunder Ride portion is being hosted by The Widows Sons to raise funds for their CHIP program.

This event has continued to grow since its foundation and every year is different from the last.

The weather, the bikes, the magic of family coming out to see these two wheeled machines is the magic of the Show.

This event draws motorcycle enthusiasts and riders to unite and celebrate their love of two wheels; whether its vintage or new, a sports bike or a Harley, all riders come to show us why they love their ride so much.

Neil Peart of the legendary rock band Rush once said “We ride for joy, for freedom, weather, wildlife, curiosity, speed, escape, satisfaction, challenge and grinning out loud as we rail through a perfect curve. And when the bike is parked at the end of the day, there is a kind of joy: the elevated sense of accomplishment and survival.”

A perfect way to describe why people love to ride.

“Last year saw close to 100 bikes turn up for the Show & Shine portion of this event and we are anticipating many more this year with several bike groups already confirming their participation, including local all-women’s Iron Maidens,” say Scott and Mel of Tattoo Addiction.

Mel goes on to tell us “bike registration will begin at 9 a.m. at Tattoo Addiction at a cost of $10 per bike entry.

This year the categories are: American Made, Foreign, Custom, Women’s and People’s Choice.

Tattoo Addiction plans on donating proceeds from the Show & Shine to NICU at Sick Kids in memory of Cole Young who passed away a 5 months old from a rare metabolic disorder.

“Chapman’s has donated ice cream that we will be selling for $2 a cone with all proceeds from these sales going directly to Sick Kids,” Scott adds.

The Widows Sons are hosting the Thunder Ride portion of this event, with proceeds going to Masonic CHIP program.

Carey Widbur of the Widows Sons, a group of local Masons, tell the Shelburne Free Press that “Registration is not set at any monetary amount, however we will gladly accept any donations for this portion of the event.”

When asked about the ride, Widbur explains “The ride itself is going to be 100 to 150 kilometers through the rolling hills of Dufferin County and should last about three hours.”

The motorcycles are scheduled to fire up and roll out at 2 p.m. from where they are parked for the Show & Shine, and should be not only an awesome sight but also an awesome sound too.
