On Monday, April 30th, Shelburne Police Services joined forces with Dominos Pizza in Shelburne to raise funds for the Shelburne Police Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario. A total of $1750 was raised when Dominos Pizza generously donated 50% of all dinner rush pizza sales towards the cause.

The fundraiser was initiated by PC Jeff McLean of the Shelburne Police Service and Rishi Kakar the owner of Dominos Pizza, as a joint venture to raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario.

P.C. Jennifer Roach of the Shelburne Police Service says that “since the Shelburne Police Service reignited the Special Olympics Torch Run in 2011, over $120,000 has been raised locally for the Special Olympics.”

Constable Jeff McLean is the officer who coordinates all fundraising efforts for the SPS Torch Run. “I am very proud of Constable McLean’s efforts and the amazing support we get from our community,” said Chief Moore earlier this year. “We take great pride in being able to provide opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities.”

Both PC McLean and Chief Moore were at Dominos Monday night, preparing and serving delicious, fresh pizza for customers supporting the cause.

Shelburne Police Service has been involved with the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics for several years. Last year they raised approximately $20,000 and this winter they hosted the Polar Plunge during “Shelbrrr Fest” as a way of raising money towards the 2018 Torch Run.

All the money raised from the event goes toward assisting Special Olympics athletes attain their goals and compete in the Special Olympics. PC Roach says, “Chief Kent Moore and PC McLean would like to thank the community for their support and Dominos Pizza for their generosity in making this event such a success.”
