Monday Night at the Movies’ (MNM) special screening of Still Alice was an overwhelming success in support of Alzheimer Society of Dufferin County.
More than 800 people filled six theatres over three show times on April 13th, a record-breaking audience for MNM. In addition, $3,550 was raised for programs to help local families struggling with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia – $2,000 from MNM and $1,550 from moviegoers who generously donated after viewing the film.
“We are extremely grateful to Monday Night at the Movies, the Orangeville Galaxy, and every person who came out to this film,” said Diane Cowen, Executive Director. “It meant a lot for us to be part of this evening.”
Julianne Moore won an Academy Award for her outstanding performance as Dr. Alice Howland, a linguistics professor who faces early onset Alzheimer’s with her family. Alzheimer Society volunteers were on hand after the film to answer questions and provide information about their free programs and services.
