Shelburne has welcomed another fast-food restaurant into the community, as the new Taco Bell officially opened to the public on Sept. 28. The business held a grand opening ceremony that morning and into the early afternoon, with a customary ribbon-cutting.

The event brought out residents, employees, management, and corporate staff who came to oversee the opening.

Bernie Green, general manager of Soul Foods Group Canada, the franchise that operates the Taco Bell location and recently opened KFC, thanked the community for showing up and making the event a success.

“Shelburne loves Taco Bell,” he said. “We are very pleased with the grand opening and the incredible response from the community. It was great to see so many guests come out to welcome Taco Bell to Shelburne and experience the new restaurant. Our team worked incredibly hard to prepare for the opening, and we couldn’t have asked for a better welcome.”

Green added, “The reception has been incredibly welcoming – thank you, Shelburne! We experienced that warm welcome when we opened KFC a few weeks ago, and we’ve seen that same enthusiasm surrounding Taco Bell. We’re very appreciative of the support the community has shown both of our restaurant teams.”

Taco Bell has all the amenities of a modern restaurant, and features touchscreen kiosks for faster service, a drive through and of course, a traditional front desk for ordering. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the grand opening, managing a large lunch rush well and keeping the orders coming.

Green said most staff are local to Shelburne, which was an important part of the opening process—maintaining a local connection while serving local customers.

“Our team members are local hires from Shelburne and surrounding communities, including areas like Dundalk,” he said. “These are local team members who live nearby, come to work in the community every day, and are serving their own community. We’re really proud of that local connection.”

With the opening of Taco Bell, Shelburne now has another fast-food option for residents and visitors, while adding new employment opportunities for people in the community and surrounding area.

The restaurant’s opening also marks the latest addition to Soul Foods Group Canada’s presence in Shelburne, following the recent opening of KFC just a few doors away.
