Plane crash

On Friday, July 3 at 12:30 p.m. Dufferin OPP were dispatched to small plane that crashed near Dufferin County 109 at the Rainbow Ridge Campground. The two occupants were able to escape the wreckage and injuries are believed to be minor in nature. Hydro One was called to the scene as power lines were pulled down as result of crash.
Dufferin EMS and Grand Valley Fire Department attended the scene.
• Update: Further investigation has revealed that the plane has been identified as a Rockwell Aero-Commander and that it took off from a nearby airstrip located south of Town of Grand Valley. The pilot and his daughter were enroute back to Ottawa when the crash occurred. It is fortunate that the very experience pilot in this incident had the necessary skills to be was able to land the aircraft in this area preventing any injuries to bystanders.
