Party Candidate takes the Pledge

September 3, 2015   ·   0 Comments

Nancy Urekar the federal candidate for the Dufferin-Caledon Green Party took the Food and Water First pledge on September 1st. Ms. Urekar met with Chair and Past Chair of the North Dufferin Agricultural and Community Task Force Shirley Boxem and Carl Cossack to sign the pledge beneath the Food and Water First barn-side billboard on Hwy 124 just south of Reddickville. Urekar, owner of ChicaBOOM, a consignment furniture, fashion and décor store in Caledon Village, is an environmentalist who says she is passionate about the same issues as the Green Party. Ms. Urekar told the Free Press when she signed the pledge, “It is really important that we look after food and water first; it is what sustains us. It has not been a priority in our government and it needs to be – it is with the Green Party. Energy needs to be community supported and consulted, and the community should participate in the benefits. We need to use brown fields for sustainable energy projects (such as solar) not green fields.” To learn more about Nancy Urekar and Dufferin-Caledon Green Party policies in the upcoming Federal election visit: info@dcgreens.ca
