Labour Day busy for Shelburne Police

Shelburne police has laid twelve criminal charges over the past few days in a variety of reports for domestic disputes, sexual assault, thefts, mischief, breach of court orders, and other calls for service.
The accused persons in these cases include youth and adults. In two of the domestic dispute calls for service the accused persons were held for bail hearings. Below is a summary of some of the cases that were investigated.
• In a property crime case, a suspect stole and dragged a newly planted tree from the victim’s home to his own home. This case resulted in charges of theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime, and mischief under $5000.
• The sexual assault investigation involved an adult suspect pulling up to an acquaintance in his car. The allegations are that he then inappropriately touched the adult female. This investigation resulted in a single charge of sexual assault.
• A Shelburne man was arrested and charged with two counts of breaching his Court Recognizance to Keep the Peace when he approached another Shelburne man and place of employment he was on conditions not to be near.
The numerous domestic dispute calls for service resulted in two local men charged with assault, assault with a weapon, uttering death threats, and two counts of mischief.
