Event organizers Greg and Heather Holmes of Holmes Appliances and Music Shop located at 135 Main Street West are happy to say, “This year saw the highest number of campers, participants and event goers since its inception.”

With such great weather, it was hard to not enjoy yourself at Pickin in the Park this year.

This Jamboree music event that seems to be growing and growing every year. From ice cream socials, to the men’s fashion show and the amazing showcase of talent throughout the day and evenings, there was never a dull moment.

With nearly 50 different groups or solo acts taking the stage each day, there was a great variety of music that kept all in attendance tapping their toes. Many even ventured onto the dance floor with their partners.

“This year we saw campers and performers come from as far as Wiarton, Sarnia, Sudbury, Ottawa and even Sault St. Marie,” Greg and Heather tell us.

Not only could you see and hear performers on the main stage, there were many groups formed at campsites throughout the park quietly jamming throughout the weekend.

When talking to campers in attendance, the majority of them told us that Pickin in the Park is becoming one of their summer destinations, where they come to meet new friends and gather with old friends!

“We defiantly exceeded last year’s attendance,” say organizers.

And with close to $20,000 raised, their dream of having a permanent pole barn erected at Fiddle Park should be realized for next years’ event.

The Holmes say would like to thank all of those who volunteered countless hours to make Pickin in the Park such a success.

The Shelburne Free Press, congratulates you on a job well done Greg and Heather. Keep up the good work. We do appreciate all that you both do for our community.
