Shelburne Cricket Club hosts exhibition game series

September 30, 2021   ·   0 Comments

The Shelburne Cricket Club still has one more match to be played as they move into the fall season.

The Club had a successful summer hosting the best-of-seven championship series between the Knights and the Gladiators as the Club promoted their sport in the region over the summer. That opening series went the full seven games and resulted in the first ever Shelburne Cricket championship team when the Knights won the final game on September 5.

It was a big deal for the Club organizers who are trying to promote cricket in the area and get more players to come out and experience the sport. Many of the players who took part in the summer series are experienced cricket players but several are new to the sport and came out to give it a try.

After the championship, the Club decided to extend the season by inviting other cricket clubs in the area to play an exhibition match at KTH Park in Shelburne.

The Club formed the Shelburne Stars and invited the Barrie Royals for match in the park on Sunday (Sept. 26).

It was a well-played game with a lot of enthusiasm from players on both sides. The Club livestreamed the game on the Facebook page.

The Stars have one more match coming up.

On Sunday, October 3, the Stars will host the CPG XI – a team from the Corporate Cricket Premier League in a T20 format style game.

This game will also be livestreamed on the Club’s Facebook page.

The match between Shelburne and CPG XI will start at 11:00 a.m. in KTH Park.
