The provincial government recently doled out funding for a new multi-purpose outdoor recreation facility in Grand Valley that has been constructed.
Dufferin-Caledon MPP met with representatives from the Town of Grand Valley to learn about how a $80,000 capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Fund (OTF) was used for the facility on Friday, Nov. 15.
The new multi-purpose outdoor recreation facility is intended to create a new space for people of all ages to enjoy outdoor recreational activities, such as basketball, pickleball, and ball hockey. All of these sports can be played on a court established at the facility
The building also act as a community gathering hub.
“With the Ontario Trillium Foundation, our government is investing in stronger and healthier communities, across the province, including in Dufferin County,” said Dufferin–Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones.
“This capital grant will provide Grand Valley families with a new place to gather in the community, ensuring residents have year-round access to this multi-purpose recreation facility.”
There is potential for the facility to be utilized as an outdoor skating rink in the wintertime.
The facility is built on existing Community Centre grounds in Grand Valley, next to an existing skateboard park.
“The impact of this Ontario government grant cannot be overstated,” said Grand Valley Mayor Steve Soloman.
“This grant has allowed the creation of a space for our community to play and come together to enjoy all forms of outdoor recreation.”
