Taking their seats on the Board for the first time are new members Gwen Boniface, Don Gordon and student representative Patrick Fernandez.

The Georgian College Board of Governors consists of appointed members and representatives elected by students, administrators, faculty and staff. Returning members include:  Vice Chair and Development Committee Chair, Chris Gariepy; Vice Chair and Nominations Committee Chair, Tom McBride; Policy and By-laws Committee Chair, Pamela Krause; and members Jim Bertram, Jamie Crichton, Sandra Horney and  Bruce Naylor.

Also serving on the Board are Georgian College President and CEO MaryLynn West-Moynes and Brandon Lander, Vice President, Administration, who is Secretary-Treasurer of the Board. Elected Georgian College representatives are Anita Arvast (academic), Amanda Duncan (staff) and Stephen Junkin (administration).

Chair Van Wyck is passionate about the future of Georgian College and the possibilities that lie ahead.

“Georgian College is a leader in postsecondary education and we are renowned for our culture of innovation. Thousands of alumni have taken their experiences at Georgian and are living and working in Ontario, across Canada and around the world,” he said.

“Georgian is not only a community leader but also a major employer across the region that we serve.”

Georgian President and CEO MaryLynn West-Moynes noted the importance of having such a strong board that fully supports the college’s emphasis on entrepreneurship.

“Georgian College’s goal is to create a new kind of graduate, one who is not just a job seeker but also a job creator,” she said. “At the heart of this lies Georgian’s dedication to continuous innovation. To achieve this, the college is hard at work instilling entrepreneurial learning outcomes in all our programs to give students the skills and experience they need to get ahead in today’s competitive job market.”

Another key priority is to continue building on the success of the one-of-a-kind Georgian College University Partnership Centre.

“Georgian is determined to create partnerships with universities to allow students multiple educational pathways, whether they be Georgian’s own degrees and graduate certificate programs or undergraduate and graduate studies with university partners,” said Van Wyck.

“Transfer agreements that give Georgian graduates a variety of options are also a key component of this strategy.”
