A property management report from the Fiddleville Non-Profit Housing Corporation was received by Council in chambers prior to December 8th Council. The next meeting for Non-Profit Housing was set at the housing unit on March 30th, 2015 to give tenants an opportunity to voice interests relating specifically to matters concerning the unit management.
Items on the council agenda December 8th included a delegation by Terry Paterson of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Insurance. Mr. Paterson presented terms for the Town’s Municipal Insurance Program at an annual premium of $159,056. Up $8.15% in cost, he said the increase was generally based on property value increases and cost of replacements. Councillor Mills asked the CAO John Telfer for a history of recent quotes; Mr. Telfer responded that there were not a lot of choices, but that staff frequently tests the market to compare rates. Mr. Paterson added that Jardine Lloyd Thompson “insures 320 municipalities” and “tries to be aggressive with costs.”
