On the evening of Monday January 19th Shelburne Police was called to what started out to be a noise complaint at an apartment building in Shelburne. Officers attended and dealt with the suspect in regards to the noise. Shortly after officers left, they received 9-1-1 calls in regards to the same suspect acting in a very concerning manner in the hallway and threatening various lives, including those of some of the other residents, the police and the military.
Officers returned and entered into a criminal investigation that resulted in 35 year old Justin Brooks of Shelburne being arrested on Tuesday January 20th. Brooks was charged with 2 counts of Uttering Death Threats, 2 counts of Criminal Harassment, 1 count of Mischief and 1 count of Disturbing the Peace – all under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Brooks was held for bail hearing at the Orangeville Court House.
