The Shelburne Heritage Music Festival will host the highly esteemed and award winning Canadian Rock band “The Trews” at Centre Dufferin Recreation Centre (CDRC) on August 10th. Known to be one of the most successful Canadian Bands of the last decade, “The Trews” have 17 Top 10 Rock radio singles, which includes two #1 and two Gold-certified albums for House of Ill Fame and Den of Thieves. “The Trews” quartet has also received multiple East Coast Music Awards, a CIMA Road Gold Award, and an Independent Music Award (US) in 2009 for Best Rock/ Metal Song, as well as numerous JUNO Award nominations.
The Rock band reports playing over 1,000 shows worldwide, on their own as well as supporting the Rolling Stones, KISS, Robert Plant, Guns ‘n Roses, Kid Rock and Bruce Springsteen. The group reports their sixth studio album “Civilianaires” comes out September 14th of this year. Fans can check out options at www.pledgemusic.com.
The Heritage Music Festival, featuring the 68th Canadian Open Old Time Fiddle Championship, will take place August 8th – 12th in Shelburne. All proceeds from the Festival go to support the good work of the Rotary Club of Shelburne.
The HMF committee says the event features a variety of entertainers, including a Country Jamboree with Greg Holmes and friends on Wednesday night, “The Beckett Family” on Thursday evening, and “The Trews” on Friday night, as well as Canada’s top fiddlers in competition for thousands of dollars in prizes on Saturday.
Community events include camping and “Bands and Brews” at Fiddle Park, the Saturday fiddle parade, and a non-denominational church service on Sunday at the CDRC followed by a pork barbeque.
