An old fashioned Hunter Show & Jumper Derby comes to Shelburne

August 8, 2013   ·   0 Comments

Ideally situated, just ten minutes from Shelburne at the corner of Highway 89 and Grey Road 8, Diamond Equestrian and Training Centre is proud to announce their first Annual Event, an Old Fashioned Hunter Show and Jumper Derby on August 18th beginning at 10 am.

Owners Yves Dubois and his wife, Tosha Falkenham, will be co-hosting the event with freelance coach, Andrea Bell and will feature a 3 acre show ring of sand, grass, shallow ditch, banks, hills, and both cross country and stadium jumps.

Many divisions will be included in the Hunter Classes including Children’s, Novice, Low and Open Hunter and many more.

Those who register before August 15th will receive a free cross country school. Prizes will include ribbons and donations from local businesses including Shelburne’s newest Tack store, Brightside Tack and Equestrian Supplies Inc., a huge supporter of the new Diamond Equestrian and Training Centre which is only a year old. Dubois mentions, “Points will be also given out based on style, form, look of the horse and the look of the rider. This will be our version of Spruce Meadows Derby in Calgary.”

Dubois points out he and his wife are attempting to imitate and old fashioned course, re-connecting with how things were done in the past, not fabricated, out in the wild of real wooded areas and this will hopefully showcase real skill.

Falkenham, a professional trainer, once qualified for the Olympics and Diamond Equestrian and Training Centre is a dream come true for her as she will now be able to own and compete.

Diamond also board horses, provides lessons in both Dressage and jumping, and has a little bit of everything to offer. .

Hoping for a great welcome from local area and residents, both Dubois and Falkenham look forward to a great turnout and welcome all interested to go to www.diamondatkeldon.com for a class list and entry form.
