The plans to create a drug treatment centre near the village of Hockley appear to be over.
The 150 acre property which was owned by the Blenkarn family has been sold to another buyer. The property’s real estate agent, Marc Ronan, announced last Tuesday that the sale to Narconon was not going to occur and that a local buyer was going to purchase the 150 acre property located at 990461 Mono-Adjala Townline.
Narconon, an international drug treatment organization with ties to the Church of Scientology, had planned to open a facility on the property and held a public meeting last July in Hockley.
Local residents opposed to the facility had circulated a petition against the proposal, created a Facebook page to generate opposition to the facility.
