Fairies Enchanted Art Studio Workshop at Soaring Heart Wellness

March 19, 2014   ·   0 Comments

Montessori teacher, Angela Lloyd is the instructor of a very unique Art Workshop held at Soaring Heart Wellness on Saturday, March 22nd from 1 – 3  p.m.

The Enchanted Fairies Art Studio Workshop promises to transport the creative minds of both parents and children into a fairy themed decorated environment. And how does Lloyd promise to do that?

“By creating an environment for creativity, a complete creative experience can be achieved starting with engaging creative conversation,” Without giving the essence of her secret to the experience away, Lloyd continued, “We live in a world that is two dimensional, going to print or is on the computer, and we are no longer using our five senses to learn.”

Lloyd is a home schooling mom, artist, and entrepreneur who has been a Montessori teacher for 17 years. “I’m very people oriented,” commented Lloyd. “With my background and experience, not just as an artist but also a teacher, I feel I am very able to teach in a unique manner.”

Using the five senses to learn is not a new concept as Montessori instruction, largely,  miscategorized as a modern, alternative source for learning, is actually a very old, tried, tested and true mode of education based on the findings of  Dr. Maria Montessori, the first woman to become a doctor in Italian in the early 1900’s.

Following in Montessori philosophy, based on the behaviour of learning, treating every child with respect, helping each child to help themselves and including three dimensional objects, always creates a basis for children to learn to be responsible, have respect and take responsibilities for their actions while appreciating routine and structure.  Sound complicated? It really isn’t as Llyod can explain with both ease and personal experience.

Lloyd applies three dimensional learning tools, and the five senses to her method of teaching while including parental interaction with the children.

“Think of it this way for example. Most of us can associate the smell of apple pie with a great memory. After children play a computer game, there is no end result, no built in learning memory of smell, textured feeling, it’s an incomplete learning experience,” Lloyd explained further, “When the kids leave with their finished product made within a complete experience Saturday afternoon I guarantee they will be asking when the next class is.”

Kids will be able to choose from prepackaged take home projects that can range from fairy doors to be mounted on the top of baseboards to fairy wreaths, and much more. Soaring Heart Wellness will be providing a nutritious snack, and although the workshop is for kids 4–13 years of age, children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Lloyd is also actively sought out to host birthday parties. If you are interested in this wonderful, full of wander and unique approach to teaching mixed with craft instruction, contact Lloyd at arlloyd007@gmail.com, or call 705 434-7409.

Lloyd does not have a website and guess what? She likes it that way.

If you want to see your kids transported into the non-commercial, Fairies Enchanted Art Workshop, contact Soaring Heart Wellness at 519 925-2822 to reserve your spot!

Last, but not least, is Lloyd’s encouraging philosophy, especially after a long winter where many of us didn’t go out much, “When connecting with your community, we’re making a stronger community.”

Truer words may have never been spoken!
