Shelburne Library news

Last week was a busy week for our library community. A very special event occurred on Wednesday, April 30, when 3 of our volunteers were recognized for their contributions to our library with Ontario Volunteer Service Awards. The Awards are sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration. Beverly Ford- Arnold received her pin in recognition of 20 years of volunteer support for the library; Jim Worobec and Cathy Earle received pins in recognition of their 5 year support of the programs in our library. It was a great evening and we are very proud to be part of this event and have the recognition that our volunteers deserve. We certainly couldn’t do without their assistance and they know we appreciate it but this was an additional surprise for them. We have hired our summer student assistants to support the programs for our teens and for the children in our TD Summer Reading program. Emily Sedgwick is returning for her second year with us and heading out Teen and ‘Tween programs. These will start the week of June 1. We are planning all sorts of activities, Rainbow loom club, continuation of our Pizza & Pages book club and more.

Checkout our website, www.shelburnelibrary.ca and Face book to see details and announcements.

Melissa Matthews will be supporting Jeanne Cruikshank in the TD Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is Eureka and Melissa has lots of background in science so we are planning some fun experiments and activities. Dufferin Reads:
