Daytime B&E’s

July 16, 2014   ·   0 Comments

Recently in surrounding OPP detachment areas, there have been a significant number of daytime break and enter calls with the thieves primarily targeting jewellery and cash. Members of the OPP are the asking you to be cognizant of vehicles, such as mini vans, that are on the rural roads for no apparent reason with occupants that look out of place. In a large proportion of the break and enter calls, the females knock on doors and ring bells to see if anyone is home. If no one answers they will attend the back of the residence to gain entry out of view and once inside remove cash and jewellery. If someone does answer the door they always have prepared responses that they are looking to buy animals, vegetables, or do manual labour. If you notice any of the above mentioned suspicious vehicles are persons, call the Ontario Provincial Police immediately at 1-888-310-1122. Police tips: • Be ready to provide Police a good description of the vehicle, such as make, model and licence plate. • As well, try to provide a description any suspicious people who may come to your door. • Always lock the windows and doors to your home when you are not at home and set your alarm if you have one. • Ensure your vehicle is locked and items of value are removed from the vehicle, out of sight to would-be thieves. Let’s work together to stop this crime and keep our neighbours safe! www.opp.ca
