Formally known as Fines Home Hardware Building Centre, Shelburne Home Hardware Building Centre celebrated its official name changing ceremony on Thursday, July 17th with recognition from the Town of Shelburne, local businesses, customers and employees.

Home Hardware Representatives, lumber purchaser, Marc Pardue, and area manager, Dave Tucker took part in the milestone achievement marking the store’s transition and great success throughout its 50 year history in the making.

According to dealer/owner, Gillam, staff collectively have approximately 322 years of experience.

Gillam was visibly moved by the emotion of the achievement, the recognition of his Shelburne Home Hardware Building Centre Team, and the support from his community, family and friends. It was clear that Gillam was able to seamlessly amalgamate a rich and valued past with a bright and predictably successful future for all involved with Shelburne Home Hardware Building Centre.

In addition to the store’s name change, Gillam handed out Employee Acknowledgement Awards and also announced a new annual tradition. Employee, James Gordon was the first to receive the first annual Award of Excellence in loving memory of former employee Ken Billings.

“We would like to thank you for your aspiration and dedication to the city’s growth. As a valued EDC (Economic Development Committee) member we thank you for the business growth, commercial expansion and retention of work in the Town of Shelburne,” Shelburne CAO John Teller said to Gilliam of his efforts and dedication.

On a beautiful sunny day, history was made as a community celebrated Shelburne Home Hardware Building Centre’s name change, acknowledgment of staff and the gumption Gilliam’s tireless efforts produced securing a thriving business in the community of Shelburne.
