Terry Fox Run: Sept. 14th

August 20, 2014   ·   0 Comments

“Today is the day it all begins.” The very first sentence Terry wrote in his journal chronicling his Marathon of Hope back on April 12, 1980. Never would he imagined his run would inspire the nation, and spread worldwide to raise $650 million for cancer research.
Terry was only interested in one message- cancer research is the key to saving lives.
The 2014 Terry Fox Run T-Shirt (which may be purchased on-line at terryfox.org) includes the full text from page 1 of Terry’s private journal. Terry’s family wanted to share his words with Canadians as you were there with, and for, Terry from that very first day. Terry’s brother Fred says, “As humble as Terry was, he would be absolutely astonished not only by the longevity of his legacy but also by the constancy of Canadians for the cause.
Come join us, Sunday, September 14, starting at the Fire Hall O’Flynn Street Shelburne 8:30 a.m. registration, 9 a.m. to noon, and be apart of this great event!
There are many ways to participate: Donate, on-line or support one of the “runners” , volunteer an hour or two placing signs and lawn-signs for awareness, registration. All sorts of ways to be a part of this great Canadian tradition and legacy. Terry ran not for himself, he ran for you and me, and the ones we love and care for.
