Shoplift results in four charges including escape lawful custody

On Thursday September 4th Shelburne Police responded to a call for shoplifting at the Foodland Grocery Store on First Ave in Shelburne. Information was that the loss prevention officer had arrested a male for theft, however the suspect then fled from the officer prior to police arrival.
The investigation led to the identity of the suspect. As a result the following day 31 year old Ryan Mifsud of Shelburne was arrested and charged with Theft under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Escape Lawful Custody and Breach of Probation.
Mifsud was released on a promise to appear and undertaking with a first appearance court date in late September.
