Bayshore Broadcasting is a family of eight radio stations, covering the Lake Huron shoreline from approximately Sarnia to Parry Sound and recently held their launch party for Country 105 at the Shelburne Legion to the delight of 44 contestants who won their way into the event with a change to win a New Years trip to Nashville.
Country 105 is the first truly local radio station for Dufferin County. Broadcasting from their Shelburne studios to the surrounding area including Orangeville, Alliston, Caledon, Dundalk and beyond, they provide listeners with the local information, fun contests, entertainment and of course 50,000 watts of Today’s Best Country!
You can find them at 104.9 on the FM dial or you can listen to them online from anywhere, even on mobile devices, by clicking on their “listen live” link at the top of their web page.
Their recent launch party included welcomes from a long list of speakers such as Shelburne and Orangeville mayors Ken Bennington and Jeremy D. Williams, to David Tilson MP, and Sylvia Jones MPP, as well as John Telfer CAO/Clerk from the Town of Shelburne who stated “this was the longest courtship in having a business come to the area as the application was started way back in 2009.”
Doug Caldwell, Owner of Bayshore Broadcasting was on hand and spoke about how getting Country 105 up and running took several years.
“It was a difficult process that was complicated and politically riddled. There were applications to the CRTC (Canadian Radio – Television Commission) where situation can get locked up. A decision to award 104.9 came in 2011 when we won a public hearing then there were delays in the municipal process. When all applications required were approved we could start to build,” he said.
Caldwell told the story of how their 50,000 watt transmitting tower that came from Italy was erected upside down the first time it was set up, then reassembled correctly. Caldwell went on to say “It’s a pleasure for us to be here and we look forward to making Shelburne the country music capital of Ontario.”
In between speakers the crowd was entertained by local artists Kristen Scott and Tyler Beckett, there was the official ribbon cutting ceremony then the event concluded with a draw for a trip for two to Nashville for New Years’ which was won by Trish Cockton.
No matter where you are, stay informed and entertained with Country 105 – Dufferin’s home for Today’s Best Country!
