Sharks struggling at mid season

December 14, 2015   ·   0 Comments

The Shelburne Sharks have dropped to the basement of the Central Division of the Greater Metro Hockey League after taking a pair of losses this past week.
The Sharks can’t seem to buy a break as the season is now at the midway point.
The Sharks hosted the Knights of Meaford on Monday, November 30, at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex, but could only score one goal.
They had to settle for a 12–1 loss to the Knights.
The team travelled to Tottenham on Saturday, December 5, to face the Steam.
After going down 3–0 in the first period the Sharks finally managed to score with a goal late in the second period from Brett Barry.
The Steam finished off the night with four third period goals to end the game 12–1.
The loss leaves the Shelburne team with a 5–21 record for the season.
The Greater Metro Hockey League is also short one team after the Grey County Grizzlies dropped out suddenly.
A check with the GMHL office confirmed only the Grizzlies are taking a ‘leave of absence’ for the rest of the season.
The Grizzlies were new to the League this season and struggle right from the start winning only one game all season.
The Alliston Coyotes maintain first place in the Central Division with 46 points, followed by the Tottenham Steam in second place with 42 points.
The Bradford Bulls are in third place with 34 points. They are followed by the Bradford Rattlers in fourth place with 32 points.
The Shelburne Sharks will be back on home ice on Monday, December 14, when they will host the Colborne Chiefs.
Game time is 8:30 p.m.
