The Centre Dufferin District High School Royals junior boys basketball team went to the regional Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association (CWOSSA) competition on Feb. 24 and 25.

This year the competition was held at Westside Secondary School in Orangeville.

The Royals had a stellar year finishing in first place in the District 4 standings as an undefeated team.

In the semi-final round of playoffs, the Royals defeated Emmanuel Christian High School 62-33.

They went on to win the District championship with a 54-38 win over Westside Secondary School on Feb. 15 to earn the right to go to CWOSSA.

CWOSSA competition hosts the District champion high school teams from Districts in South Central Ontario.

On the first day of competition, the Royals came out on top in their first game against St. David’s with a 50-38 win.

Their second game, played later in the afternoon, had the Royals up against the team from Grey Highlands. In that game the Royals left the court with a 57-46 win, allowing them to move to the semi-final round.

In a close and well-played game, the Royals had to settle for a loss to Bishop Macdonell, with a 45-40 final score.

In the other semi-final, Galt Collegiate won 63-30 over North Park.

That set up the final championship game between Bishop Macdonell and Gault
Collegiate.

Bishop Macdonell won the final game 45-28 and will go on to compete at OFSSA.
