Shelburne community steps up for Canadian Blood Services

If ever there was an occasion for the community of Shelburne to be proud, certainly Wednesday, October 15th at the Canadian Blood Services blood donor clinic was just such an occasion. After Canadian Blood Services announced a record all time low for donations, Shelburne residents gave a record 68 units of blood last week – beating the projected 58 unit mark set for the site.
Although that record breaking announcement is fantastic, the incredible work of the Canadian Blood Services is never ending and in an attempt to continuing to provide the gift of life to others.
The clinic scheduled for December will have extended hours. Please note that next clinic will be at the Centre Dufferin Recreational Complex (CDRC) Wednesday, December 17th, from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m.
“We really have to hit our increased target of 77 units in December in order to ensure there is enough inventory to get us through the holidays,” commented Elaine St. Pierre, Territory Manager of Canadian Blood Services, further explaining, “We normally collect six out of seven days a week, Sunday being the only day we do not run our clinics. During the week of the 21st of December, we also won’t be collecting on Christmas Day, so that week, we will only be collecting five days out of seven. That means the preceding week needs to have strong collections.”
