All aboard the Hallowe’en Express at the South Simcoe Railway. The annual event at the steam train in Tottenham took place last Friday and Saturday night – an opportunity for kids to wear their costumes and ride the heritage rail line to ‘Nowhere’ and back. Pictured here is Eric ‘Smitty’ Smith, the Conductor at the SSR with his biggest fan – 22 year old Christopher Dawe of Mono Township. Christopher, an avid train enthusiast, has been riding the SSR rails once a month since he was a little boy. He says that one day, he’d like to be just like his idol Smitty and conduct a train himself. This town isn’t big enough for two Smitty’s! The South Simcoe Railway is now closed for the season and will reopen for Santa Claus Express excursions November 29 and 30, and December 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 with four departures daily (10 a.m.,11:30 a.m.,1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.)
