A trip to Durham for Shelburne Wolves Midget LL2 paid off last weekend, November 29th, where the team were one of the 10 local league teams that participated in Durhams all day hockey tournament.
After 13 grueling hours, their reward was winning the consolation trophy after successfully winning their first two qualifying games, first against Hanover scooping a win of 4–0 and then against Listowel, winning 1–0. This qualified Shelburne in the finals against Bradford.
The game sizzled into action with their first goal taking only 4 minutes to slide into the opponents net scored by Dylan Dever and assisted by Nick Loucks. Shelburne played a tight knit team and passed consistently out witting their opponents. Controlling the puck swiftly Justin Bennett scored the second goal in period one assisted by Brandon Long. Period two off to a slow start looked challenging for Shelburne until Dylan Dever scored goal three assisted by Liam Mc Cleod. On the home run and final period Bradford livened up the game but couldn’t stop the fourth and final goal sliding in by Nick Loucks assisted by Kyle Burke.
A well deserved win for the Shelburne Wolves after a tiring day in Durham, and their goalie Joe Woollett was selected by the referees for the MVP Award having only let one goal slide by in the tournament for all three games.
