Wolves Midget win consolation round

The Shelburne Wolves Midget LL2 team finished their season with an exciting 5–4 win over the Wasaga Stars at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex in Shelburne on Saturdy, March 28.
Teams were battling it out in a mini series for the Georgian Bay Triangle local league consolation championship.
They entered game three with the series tied at one.
The Wolves were leading 2–1 in the second period on goals from Justin Besley and Kyle Burke.
A third Shelburne goal extended the lead when Brandon Long fired a bullet to the top shelf to give the Wolves a two goal lead late in the frame.
With 8:57 left on the clock, Long notched his second of the game in the third period to make it 4–1.
Wasaga scored a late period goal, then followed up with another only seconds later to close the gap.
With time running out, the Wasaga team tied the game with 59 seconds left.
A mad scramble in the final minute failed to produce a winner and the teams took a short break before returning for a ten minute overtime period.
The game, and the series, was over when Besley got his second of the game and the one the ended the season midway through the OT period.
“You’ve got to have faith in the boys. They’ll pull through for you,” said Wolves head coach Justin Paulitzki of the finish that saw Wasaga battle back from a three goal deficit. “They were really clicking, they were going on all cylinders. They were moving the puck well and getting lots of shots on net.”
Wolves forward Justin Besley said he thought it was an exciting end to the season.
“I thought it was an exciting game. I got the first goal to pump up the boys to start off the game,” he said. “I thought we played really good as a team (for the season). There wasn’t too much bickering or arguing so we all came together as a team and played as a team every game.”
Despite giving up three late game goals, the squad managed to regroup in the overtime period to come out on top.
“We kind of lost it at the end there, but we came back in overtime,” said Wolves forward Kyle Burke. “We had a couple of guys who are on their last game tonight so we didn’t want them to go away disappointed. We got a game plan and followed it.”
The win in the final series gives the team a third place finish over all in the Georgian Bay League.
