The “1st Annual My Crafty Neighbours (MCN) Spring Shopping Event” held this past Saturday was an extremely successful event! The girls of MCN accepted non-perishable food items and donations in lieu of an entrance fee, which in turn they gave to Shelburne’s Food Bank, Shepherd’s Cupboard.
This event which was held in the Warrior’s Hall of the Shelburne Legion, Branch 220, located at 203 William Street, was everything Larua Meakings and Tara McCreadie of MCN said it would be. Packed with a large assortment of vendors there was something for everyone, including this reporter.
From premium quality soaps and bath products created with delectable scents and organic ingredients made by Stockman Soapworks based out of Georgetown and baked goods from your local country store “the Market” there was defiantly something for everyone. Artisans and crafters came from far and wide to set up shop for the day in Shelburne. Locals Jessica Jones owner of JJ Originals Sewing and Embroidery had sewn gifts and personalized items for the whole family including fur babies and her good friend Corrine Arthurs of Arthurs Baby Crafts offered hand made items for babies and toddlers such as bibs, blankets, bath aprons, mitts and burp pads. While Pearls Optional featured beautiful unique one of a kind jewellery gift and home decor items designed using re-purposed vintage, Victorian and Edwardian found treasures.
In a telephone interview with the Free Press Tara of MCN told us that in total there were 43 vendors at the sale and they raised $177 for the food bank as well as supplied them with 3 large totes filled with food items. She speculates that over 300 people came through the doors throughout the course of the day and said everyone can look forward to their 2nd Annual “Holiday Gift and Craft Show” planned for November 21st.
