Five arrested at RIDE

Shelburne Police were busy seizing drugs on separate RIDE programs on Friday and Saturday night.
During the late evening hours on Friday November 13th, a GMC Sierra entered a RIDE program in Shelburne. The officer approached the vehicle in regards to checking for drinking and driving, however a roadside investigation quickly led to the arrest of the two occupants for possession of a controlled substance. Just over 7 grams of marijuana was seized along with drug paraphernalia. 23 year old Nathan Davis of Waterdown, and 18 year old Matthew Barron of Etobicoke were charged with possession of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. They were released on appearance notices with court dates in December to answer to these charges.
During a RIDE program in the late evening hours on Saturday November 14th, Shelburne Police approached another vehicle that led to all three occupants of the truck to be arrested for possession of a controlled substance. In this instance over 30 grams of marijuana was seized along with drug paraphernalia. The three occupants in this matter were also released on appearance notices with court dates in December. The names of the people charged in this incident are not being released because some of them are youth. The Youth Criminal Justice Act restricts the release of the identification of any persons under the age of 18.
