Midgets take loss to Elmvale

November 20, 2015   ·   0 Comments

The Shelburne Wolves Midget rep team scored early in their Thursday (Nov. 12) night game against the Elmvale Coyotes but after the first period they just couldn’t find the back of the Coyotes net.
The only Wolves goal came from Shelburne forward Trent Downey.
The Coyotes got a lead in the second period leaving the Wolves trying to get a goal back to even it up.
There was a lot of back and forth action on the ice with the Wolves getting several opportunities including a couple that went off the post but they just couldn’t score.
Returning for the third period the Wolves put out a good effort but again had trouble getting one past the Elmvale goalie.
The Coyotes scored number three on a shot from in front of the net and picked up number four late in the game when a rebound popped up high in front of the Shelburne net and was swatted into the goal to make it a 4–1 game.
The Wolves came to Thursday’s game with a rough start after several players picked up a bug that has been circulating and left the squad a little on the weak side before the game even started.
“I think we came out good at the start and popped one early, but we’ve got a few guys that are a little ill tonight,” said Wolves coach Mark Earle. “They’re definitely a team we can beat. We had strong goal tending tonight from Joe (Wollett).
After the loss the Wolves have a respectable 5–4–1 record.
“We’re doing alright, we just had a weak spell tonight. We hit a couple of posts. Lady luck just wasn’t on our side tonight,” Earle said.
The Wolves will have a chance to get some payback when they again meet the Coyotes in Elmvale on Sunday, November 22.
They will return to home ice at the CDRC on Friday, November 27, when they will host the Oro Thunder.
That game is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.
The Shelburne Wolves Midget rep team would like to thank their sponsors, Rotomill of Orangeville.
