Star Catchers cook for a cure

Chef Scott Harris, Star Catcher founder Taylee Jackson, and her friend and helper Clara Seston of Centre Dufferin District High School (CDDHS) raised nearly $200 during their 55 minute lunch period to help support cancer research at Sick Kids’ Hospital.
Taylee, a Grade 11 student, has been hosting fundraising events for Sick Kids’ Foundation since 2012.
She held her fourth event on Tuesday, March 29 in the foyer at CDDHS.
In 2010, when Taylee was just 11 years old, her aunt was diagnosed with cancer.
Taylee wanted to help her aunt, so she sold cookies and raised $250 to help pay for some of her medical expenses.
In March 2011, her aunt lost her battle to cancer, and it was then that Taylee realized she wanted to support cancer research.
She created Star Catchers Foundation to support Sick Kids Hospital because, she says, “I know that they are very trusting with my donations and I know that 100% of my funds raised are going to a good cause.”
