Marketing Mommas is a mother of a success

Crafts and a food frenzy were on the menu last weekend at the Shelburne arena, Fiddle Park Lane, and the local craft fair organized by three volunteers called the Marketing Mommas.

Lindsay Wegener, Althea Casamento and Jill Brace, all Shelburnite moms, came up with the great idea of organizing the craft show two years ago.

They realized that Shelburne was lacking in fun events where local business-owners could get involved and showcase their goods and services, without people having to travel.

In attendance were 30 vendors, an array of products from candles, jewelry, designer cupcakes and even dog bandanas.

Feeling puckish? No worries; on site were five food vendors, including an ice cream truck.

While you shop, there was plenty to keep the kids occupied, with face painting, stuff a duck and balloon animals.

On hand was Althea, an acclaimed photographer, offering photoshoots for Mother’s Day and, of course, how could you leave without receiving a free hand massage from Jodie Jones of Keeping in Balance?

The charity raffle the girls organized greatly benefited Generis International Canada, a local charity that puts together school supplies and delivers  them to disadvantaged children in Africa.

So, watch this space for the next event, organized by the Marketing Mommas.
