Treat Mom to a plant and bake sale this Saturday in Primrose

May 7, 2016   ·   0 Comments

Primrose United Church’s annual Mother’s Day Plant and Bake Sale is this Saturday May 7 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Church on the corner of Hwy 10 and 30th Sideroad, Mono.

The congregation invites everyone to join them for complimentary coffee and choose from a wonderful selection of perennials, herbs, baked goods and food and craft vendors.

Vendors this year include Sabah Abdulkadir, who arrived from Syria with her husband and their seventeen-year-old daughter in early March with the help of First Line for Syria, and Primrose United Church.

“We are so excited to have Sabah join us,” says Gail Brown of Primrose United.

Sabah will be selling her beautiful crocheted items – baby clothes and more.

The congregation has added a loonie-toonie “treasure” table this year, as well as some new plants.  The hope is the community will come out to purchase flowers, not only for their mothers and grandmothers and for their own homes, but also for people at Mill St Apartments, Shelburne Residence & Retirement Homes, and Simon Street Apartments, “so that hanging baskets could be hung on metal hooks outside their rooms to attract birds and provide beautiful scenery as they look out their windows.”

“We are also hoping some businesses in Shelburne and Primrose might buy hanging baskets or urns for the front of their businesses to support the church,” says Ms. Brown.

The little white church, built in 1875, is fast approaching 150 years of spiritual history.
