Town Pharmacy in Shelburne hosted its 11th annual event to raise funds for SickKids Hospital on Wednesday, June 12.

Over the past 10 years, the Pharmacy event has raised more than $30,000 for the hospital.

There was a free barbecue where people could make a donation towards SickKids.

The event was well supported by people who recognize the need for a hospital that specializes in caring for ill children. SickKids is one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals.

Pharmacy owner Sanjay Lekhi, who hosts the event every year, says that while he is fortunate that no one in his family has ever needed the hospital, he recognizes the importance of helping those who need its services.

“This is our 11th SickKids fundraiser,” Sanjay explained. “We are giving away free hotdogs, but we are accepting donations from anyone who wants to give. We have some things people can buy and all the proceeds are going to SickKids. We have volunteers helping us.”

Helping SickKids hospital is something Sanjay feels is important.

“Children are born, and they don’t know they have a medical condition,” Sanjay said. “It is up to us to see if we can do anything for them.”

The event was well attended, and the volunteers welcomed everyone who arrived to have a hotdog and help raise funds for a good cause.
