Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers seized a large quantity of fentanyl and arrested an individual at a property on Fead Street in Orangeville last week.
On March 17, Dufferin OPP officers began an investigation near Fead Street in Orangeville. On March 20, the Dufferin OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested one male and executed a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of 19.7 grams of assorted coloured fentanyl. Police also seized a cellphone and note for a shipping company to leave a package in the mailbox of the property where the search was executed.
It’s important to note, the shipping company had no knowledge of the contents of the sealed parcel that was delivered.
As a result of the OPP’s investigation and execution of the search warrant, Cody Crawford, 32, of Orangeville, has been charged with:
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order (seven counts)
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (Fentanyl)
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (Fentanyl)
The investigation is ongoing into the supplier of the fentantyl. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Dufferin OPP.
None of the listed charges have been proven in court.
