Cocaine, packaging materials and cash seized from Shelburne residence during search warrant

Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers executed a search warrant at a residence on William Street in Shelburne recently. During the operation, one individual was taken into custody without incident, while a second individual fled the scene.

In the spring of this year, Dufferin OPP officers initiated a drug trafficking investigation. On July 8, members of the Dufferin OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Collingwood and Huronia West CSCUs, executed the search warrant at the residence.

While officers were attempting to take the second individual into custody, he fled the scene. On July 20, members of the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) located the accused in Brampton and took him into custody without incident.

Frederick Beckford, 43, from Brampton, has been charged with:

• Trafficking in a Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin) 

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin) 

• Dangerous operation 

• Flight from peace officer 

• Resist peace officer 

• Assault a peace officer with a weapon

Ronald Mcallister, 63, from Shelburne, has been charged with:

• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada 

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine 

• Trafficking in a Schedule I substance – Cocaine 

• Possession of unmarked cigarettes

Cocaine, packaging materials, scales, $1,200 cash, 120 unmarked cigarettes and a 2020 Mazda CX30 were seized as offence-related property, with the Mazda valued at $20,000.

“Please continue to report any suspicious activity in your local area. Community awareness and timely reporting play a critical role in helping police prevent crime and keep our neighbourhoods safe,” reads a press release from the OPP regarding the incident. 

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Dufferin OPP.
