Shelburne Librray news Just a reminder, we are closed this Saturday, August 9th so everyone can enjoy the Fiddle Contest activities. See you again on Monday, August 11,

Children’s Programs: Our Lego Clubs are attracting quite a few young folks as we have a noisy, fun-filled group of children here Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.

Teen and ‘Tween Programs- Rainbow Loom Club this week. This is a happening club for sure as we have new members every week and the bracelets, key chains, etc. are really creative. Also they have lots of fun socializing and meeting other teens. This Wednesday @ 10:30, we have professional make-up artist Sharon Betton, showing our young girls how to make lip gloss. She will also do some makeup features and then we will have Althea from accephotography take their photos. This should be a fun time. Pizza & Pages, Thursday, August 14 @ 6:00 pm This is the last session for the summer of our monthly book club for teens and ‘tweens. The next book, The Selection by Kiera Cass will be the focus of the August 14th Pizza & Pages. This will be Emily’s last evening with the club as she prepares to go back to University this fall. Library Literary Events: Off the Page We are quite excited to line up our wonderful authors for our fall Literary Events. We already have Barry Gough coming on Sunday, September 21 with his new book which will be just off the presses in early September. Hugh Webster is here today and we are just setting up a date for him to come late October or November. We are very thrilled to be able to feature our local artist and provide an enjoyable social time for our patrons and they have the opportunity to talk to the authors first hand. Book, Books and more Books My next book that I am reading is The Other Story by Tatiana de Rosnay. I read her books Sarah’s Key and The House I Loved and A Secret Kept and found them very moving and intensely emotional. Her sympathetic portrayals of the characters in her books are compelling and may well leave you crying with the depth of feeling she conveys. We also have some other books this month which will be just the right ones to enjoy for light summer reading.
